- Big beach - as the name implies, this is one of the largest beaches in Maui. Located in Makena, south of Kihei and Wailea, It is just past the large cinder cone 'Pu'u Ola'i' . There are large paved parking lots on both ends of the beach. It is a wide, long beach with nice sand, sandy bottom and clear water. But beware of the surf. It can be rough , with a short shore break. It can be dangerous for swimming if the surf is up. - Big Beach is on the south side of the cinder cone and Oneuli beach is on the north side. It is a rough sand beach but great for snorkeling, a good spot to find turtles to snorkel with. Maui is much more than a playground for the rich and famous.
