No wonder it was voted the best beach in America in 1998. Soft sand and clear water. Awesome for swimming. Even though it is on the windward side, the waves are considerably smaller compared to other beaches on a windy day. It is not crowded on weekedays. You still have a lot of space ... When we arrived to Kailua Beach Park, early last spring, it soon became apparent that these waters were built for kayaking.
