Glad to have the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 X 4

If you're going to the Big Island..make sure that you visit South Point..and if you've got some money to burn, make sure you get the 4-wheel drive...and while the Jeep Wrangler's are popular, I'd advise the Grand Cherokee...both South Point and Volcanoes National Park (along Chain of Craters Road) are extremely windy and quite cool by the evening time...if you're at one of these places around dusk, with the wind howling around you, you'll be glad you have closed cab! Back to South Point...First off, the drive to the southern portion of the island from Kona (or Hilo too, I guess) is quite unique...you can see how under developed (for now) this portion of the island is...I mean, I couldn't believe there was this much real estate available in Hawaii...a lot of it on an elevated landscape, with a view of the ocean below. However, the area is starting to grow...as we saw several "acreage/lots for sale" signs posted along the way...plus, the ground is nothing but a bunch of large ... cbearden, a user of Tripadvisor.
