Loved Smathers
We go to the Florida Keys every year. Smathers Beach is at the south/western end of the island close to the Key West Airport. It is a nice sandy beach and very blue water: clear, for snorkeling and swimming. The reef is real close here and can be accessed from the shore! Most overrated beach in the Keys.
When there was no problem finding a parking spot here after having read about Smathers' stellar reputation as THE family beach in Key West, I felt a slight twinge and should have run, not walked, then. i have been to key west many times...and this beach is not as bad as what people say... i think it is quite nice...it's lined with palm trees..nicely shaded...excellent view of the sunset...great place to take pictures... this is my favorite!!!! yeah there are homeless people around...i have neve... lovin' it, a user of Yahoo!
