While the water may be cold and the winds may be strong, that doesn't San Franciscans away from Ocean Beach, one of the city's premiere Pacific Coast locales. It's the widest and longest expanse of stand in the city and is popular for surf fishing, kite flying, and advanced surfers who are willing to brave the strong currents for a thrilling ride.

Even on warmer days, though, it can get kind of chilly on this strip of sand, so make sure to stop in at Java Beach coffee shop for a warm drink or enjoy a hot meal at the Cliff House. more on GeckoGo
