Daly City is officially known as “the Gateway to the Peninsula” in the San Francisco Bay area.  Daly City is San Mateo County’s most populous city, with great state parks and beaches as well as all the resources of an urban area. The Daly City California website provides links for Daly City lodging and vacation possibilities.

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is near Daly City. You can visit historic buildings at Presidio, take a cruise to visit the infamous prison at Alcatraz, or enjoy an exceptional hike along the coast, with panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge.  We’ve found the Presidio is great for families, with special walking tours, the Crissy Field Center, educational programs, and the Mountain Lake playground planned with kids in mind. The tour to Alcatraz fascinates all age groups.  These cruises fill up quickly, especially in summer months, so make your reservations early.  The mile-long Baker Beach lies right at the foot of the Golden Gate.  Although unsafe for swimming (due to rip-tides, strong currents, large waves and a strong undertow,) it’s a great location for hiking, fishing, and viewing wildlife.  Experience five unique National Historic Landmarks within the boundaries of the Golden Gate Recreation Area.
