Living in the land of 10,000 lakes, I have water all around me, but Minnesota’s lakes, although known for fishing and other water activities, are not the places you think of when you consider a trip to the beach.
Living in the middle of the country, a beach vacation to the coasts to enjoy a lovely ocean beach takes many days and many dollars.
And so, living where we do, were delighted to find a beautiful white-sand beach on our family vacation . . . in Canada.
Yes, Canada.
About an hour north of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, is Grand Beach. We enjoyed a lovely drive up from the city, out of the farmland and into forest, and arrived in this popular area to enjoy the beach.
It was a warm and sunny day (yes, it does get warm in Canada), in the mid-80′s, just right for shedding our shoes and dipping our shoes into the shallow Canadian water and enjoying some of the three kilometers of white sand beach.
And so it is that if you ask my children to tell you the best beach they’ve ever been to, they’ll answer with Manitoba’s Grand Beach. They’re not the only ones who think so. According to the Grand Beach tourism website, Grand Beach was named one of the top ten beaches in the world by Playboy Magazine.
When are you going to enjoy a day at Manitoba’s Grand Beach?
